Brentom Todd

Deputy Chief of Staff, City of Tulsa

A community outreach professional working on mayoral projects, Greenwood redevelopment and public engagement.

Brentom Todd is deputy chief of staff for the City of Tulsa under Mayor Monroe Nichols. Before joining City Hall, he worked at Atento Capital and served on the advisory committee helping establish a community development corporation for Kirkpatrick Heights and Greenwood. His public record connects entrepreneurship outreach with neighborhood redevelopment and the administration’s engagement on the 1921 Graves Investigation.

What the role can decide

The March 2025 appointment announcement assigns Todd special projects and an advisory role to the mayor. The current management roster confirms his position. Those sources establish a staff assignment; they do not confer an independent Council vote or document a general power to approve contracts, dispose of land or commit City funds. His influence is most directly visible in the projects he coordinates and the information he brings between the administration and community institutions.

From community outreach to City Hall

The City describes Todd as a University of Tulsa business-management graduate and former football student-athlete, with earlier work supporting Transformation Church’s expansion. It does not give a graduation year or dates and titles for the church work. By February 2023, The Black Wall Street Times identified him as Atento’s community outreach manager while reporting on a Build in Tulsa entrepreneurship event he moderated. That report documents a practical part of his work: convening entrepreneurs and community participants, rather than establishing that he personally selected investments. Leadership Tulsa’s February 2025 LT360 Class 72 announcement also lists him with Atento.

Helping establish Greenwood’s development organization

PartnerTulsa’s project history lists Todd on the nine-member advisory committee approved by the Tulsa Development Authority in April 2024. Its assignment included helping prepare incorporation documents, bylaws and operating policies, recommending directors and identifying resources for a community development corporation. Greenwood Legacy Corporation emerged from that process. The advisory appointment documents participation in building that institution; it does not establish that Todd subsequently became a corporate director. KJRH later quoted him, in his City role, explaining how collaboration with Greenwood Legacy aligned with the mayor’s housing priorities. That is a documented link between his earlier community work and his administration role, without implying that he controls the corporation.

Answering questions about the graves investigation

The Beyond Apology Commission’s January 16, 2026 minutes record Todd delivering an update on the 1921 Graves Investigation. When Vanessa Hall-Harper asked about community re-engagement and oversight, he committed to more frequent check-ins and conversation with the commission. This provides a concrete accountability point: the minutes document his commitment, while assessing whether it was fulfilled requires later meeting records. A staff briefing also differs from a scientific finding or a commission vote. No new identification of remains is attributed to him here.

The institutional setting of his former employer

Atento describes its work as connecting entrepreneurs with financial, human and social capital, with a broader current focus on investment, innovation and philanthropy. Todd’s outreach work therefore sat within an investment organization with a community-development mission. The company’s present website describes the institution today; it does not establish Todd’s current employment, personal holdings or responsibility for any particular portfolio decision.

A nonprofit board and leadership program

Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services listed Todd as a member in Part IV of its fiscal 2024 Form 990-EZ, filed August 22, 2025. The City’s March 2025 biography also described a board role. The nonprofit describes its work as dementia education, caregiver support, referrals and outreach to diverse communities. These records establish a dated civic affiliation; a current board roster and complete term dates remain unverified. Separately, his LT360 Class 72 listing places him in Leadership Tulsa’s community-service education program. A class listing establishes participation, without making him a director of Leadership Tulsa.
